Thematic display: "Books illustrated by Fernand Léger and André Mare"
Musée Fernand Léger - André Mare, Argentan
About
Thematic display Books illustrated by Fernand Léger and André Mare
As part of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of André Malraux.
Painters do not just live in their studios. They also make their mark on books, posters, and illustrated stories.
This display presents a selection of works illustrated by Fernand Léger and André Mare.
For our two painters do not just live in their studios:
They also make their mark on books, posters, and illustrated stories. Visitors will discover how each retains his artistic signature whilst responding to an illustration project. Far from being a mere secondary pursuit,
these collaborations reveal another side to their creative work.
It was also during the 1920s that the young André Malraux frequented the artistic avant-garde, from which a collaboration with Fernand Léger was born.
In 1921, Lunes en papier was published, signed by Malraux and Léger, which will also be featured in
this display.
