About
François Place studied at the École Estienne (School of Graphic Arts and Printing) in Paris, before working as an advertising illustrator, and then in children's publishing.
In 1992, he moved into writing fiction with his acclaimed debut picture book, Les Derniers géants, which won numerous awards. His three-volume imaginary atlas, L'Atlas des géographes d'Orbæ, (1996-2000) explores twenty-six countries mapped like the letters of the alphabet.
